Stalls during media streaming

Post by spud989 »

I've just upgraded to the latest firmware today.

Ever since I did I'm getting stutters/buffer pauses when using my 7800DXL to stream from a Diskstation DS412+ (running DSM 4.2) via XBMC on a Raspberry Pi.

These pauses/stutters weren't happening before on the old firmware. It happens on a variety of videos/bitrates, etc. Every few minutes.

Have you tried to set the 'OBSS Co-Existance' to disabled??

I'm using a wired connections between all parts of the network for streaming. Will disabling that still have any impact?

There is no point disabling OBSS as you are using a wired connection.

Is your Diskstation DS412 set to use Jumbo frames??

Have you tried to disable jumbo frames? (just for a quick test)

Unsure on exact wired speed as my desktop has currently died, but I seemed to remember a HD film (3gb?) taking around 5 minutes to transfer using homeplugs on my network. From an old, slow G wireless netbook it's 30 minutes+ but that's nothing to do with the Diskstation.

If possible try a direct connection to the 7800DXL with both devices, so we can be sure. (homeplugs will degrade your connectivity speeds)

200mbps ones are more than enough to stream HD films, surely!

200mbps should be more the adequate.

Have you tried the newer firmware that was released over the weekend??
