I restarted my 7800N tonight and the ADSL connection refused to come up - no light on the front panel. Constantly said 'LINK DOWN' in the UI.
All the configuration appeared to be correct i.e. it hadn't been reset/lost - it's a BT connection so ADSL username and password don't matter anyway.
Eventually, I plugged in a BT Homehub which worked perfectly and proved the link to be fine. I then tried factory resetting the 7800N and the modem came back to life.
The router has been restarted a number of times in the past bit without problem. It's a bit worrying that the modem works without problem for weeks and then randomly stops for no perceivable reason. If it does it again, it will be going in the bin.

Do you normally have the router wired when you reset.
A couple of times when I've reset, the System has shown as Up but I've had to reconnect the SSID and usually do this via the Taskbar.
I'm on TalkTalk's LLU - do you not think it could have been one of those times when BT's SRA was active ?
Is there any particular reason why you rebooted the router.

Re: 7800N ADSL stopped working after restart
Wireless connectivity was fine - all connectivity was fine other than the ADSL side.
The reason I restarted the router is that I am on a long ADSL line and get very occasional drops in speed (probably REIN induced somewhere on the line). I usually just restart the ADSL side (either through Advanced/ADSL, or via telnet). I'd noticed a couple of days ago that my upload speed had dropped to 256K from 443K and just got round to resetting the ADSL side last night. However, the ADSL didn't come back up so I restarted. No configuration changes to the router whatsoever. I tried an 'adsl start' from the command line and the light started flashing but status remained 'link down'.
Since a second router worked perfectly on the line and, on reconnecting the Billion, it was still not working I then factory reset the Billion. Lo and behold the modem came back up. Since a factory reset cured the problem I can only assume it was software-related. Since the config was unchanged and had been working for a couple of months (with a few restarts along the way) it appears that the router generated it's own software problem. That's what I find worrying.
I like the Billion - it gives me the best ADSL speed out of any modem I've tried but if this happens again...

What firmware version are you on?
I would suggest submitting a ticket on Billions UK support site and requesting firmware version 1.06e, and see if the ADSL issue is still there.

Billion UK should be soon releasing firmware 1.06e to the public.

Cheers Billion_Fan - Wonder if we'll have to keep an eye out for it ourselves or receive notification from Billion Support.

Thanks for the offer.
I don't mind trying it but I'll have a read of the release notes first.
Will the router allow me to revert back to the 1.06d if I think it's causing problems.
Best Regards
Tom

You can always downgrade the firmware if needed, as long as you have the older firmware.
What I normally do is backup my config, just incase I revert back to older firmware.
It is never advised to restore a older config file on newer firmware.
Do you still want the release notes?
