Tethering iPhone to 7800DXL
Hi,
Just picked up a 7800DXL to replace an ageing 7800N, so far I have most things working but I cannot for the life of me get it to tether to an iPhone 4. All the firmware is upto date and the phone is running iOS 7.0.6. According to the log file the router sees the phone and tries to connect but then goes through a number of loops and then disconnects it. I have tried numerous restarts and resets of both phone and router (the phone has nothing on it it is just used as a modem). The router works fine if I use a Huwuei modem we have but will not see any iPhones (we have 3 in this house same problem with all of them!)
Anybody got any ideas? really need it to work with the iPhone as we live in the middle of nowhere and the phone gives us almost usable internet speeds.

Re: Tethering iPhone to 7800DXL
Hi,
I'm getting the exact same problem. iPhone 5s, 7.0.6. I connect the phone and wait for a bit, tapping trust when asked. The phone is seen:
Mar 9 15:10:05 user notice usbmuxd[32163]: [3] Connected to v1.0 device 1 on location 0x10040 with serial number 838...
Then when I switch on Personal Hotspot the router seems to go into a loop prompting to trust this computer about five or six times, and then gives up.
If I look in the WAN summary:
USB3G0 3G/LTE Card not found
Any idea what I'm also doing wrong?
Many thanks.

Re: Tethering iPhone to 7800DXL
My log looks pretty much identical to yours.
Could this be something to do with the recent iOS 7.0.6 update? Does anyone else have it working with 7.0.6?

I just got a update from our engineers
Any IOS above 7.0.2 is not supported right now, because the IOS behavior has changed again, we are currently investigating.

I was reading the thread, and asked myself how I can make this modem/router work using my Android phone wireless hotspot... In case DSL connection goes down...
How can this be made??

Re: Tethering iPhone to 7800DXL
All you have to do is disable 'Failover' on the 3G WAN profile (if you want to use 3G/4G as the primary) then plug your andriod phone to the USB port on the 7800DXL, and then navigate to the 'Tethering and portable hotspot' section on your phone and tick 'USB tethering' and wait for around a minute.Steelstar wrote:I was reading the thread, and asked myself how I can make this modem/router work using my Android phone wireless hotspot... Once connected the 7800DXL status page you should get a WAN IP like '192.168.42.11'
tested on a samsung note 3, running kitkat os
