Problem configring IPv6 on 8900AX2400

Post by frogfoot »

Hi,
I am with Zen internet and have had an email confirming that that they have enabled IPv6 on my account, they have given me the following details
a ND Prefix: 2a02:8011:d000:****::/64 and PD Prefix: 2a02:8010:****::/48, I have tried to configure the router to work by doing the following

WAN configuration
IPv6 for this service Check Enable
Obtain IPv6 DNS check Use WAN Interface

IPv6 Autoconfig
DHCPv6 Server Check Enable
DHCPv6 Server Type Check Stateless
Start interface ID 0:0:0:2
End interface ID 0:0:0:254
Leased Time (hour) 24
Issue Router Advertisements UnCheck Enable
MLD Snooping Check Enable
MLD Snooping Mode Check Blocking mode
MLD LAN to LAN Multicast Uncheck Enable

The WAN status is showing an IPv6 address of 2a02:8011:xxxx:xxxx:0000:0000:0000:0001/64 (ignore the xxx)
However none of the connected devices can correctly pass any IPv6 test pages

eg

Test with IPv4 DNS record ok (0.474s) using ipv4
Test with IPv6 DNS record bad (0.008s)
Test with Dual Stack DNS record ok (0.469s) using ipv4
Test for Dual Stack DNS and large packet ok (0.463s) using ipv4
Test IPv4 without DNS skipped (0.310s)
Test IPv6 without DNS skipped (16.272s)
Test IPv6 large packet bad (0.009s)
Test if your ISP's DNS server uses IPv6 ok (0.468s) using ipv4
Find IPv4 Service Provider ok (0.161s) using ipv4 ASN 13037
Find IPv6 Service Provider bad (0.011s)

IPCONFIG for my PC shows the following
Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : home.gateway

Excellent, that seems to have got me connected, however I am still getting this warning on https://ipv6-test.com/
Your router or firewall is filtering ICMPv6 messages sent to your computer. An IPv6 host that cannot receive ICMP messages may encounter problems like some web pages loading partially or not at all.
any idea how to resolve this?
Thanks

Thanks for that, i've added an inbound filter to allow ICMP over IPv6 as shown, but I'm still getting ICMP filtered reports

Can you send me a screen shot of your rule.

I also just tested here with my test 2400 on Zen and ICMP is working fine I get 19/20 on the IPv6 test

Hmm, My android phone- when connected via Wifi passes the test, however my Windows 10 PC fails,
a quick mod to the firewall (netsh firewall set icmpsetting type=all mode=enable) has fixed the problem

Thanks for your help

I'm so glad I registered for the above and the images @billion_fan posted.

However, what causes "DNS6 + IP4" and "DNS6 + IP6" to fail as I'm on Sky Broadband/Fiber.

I'm getting 17/20.

Must be something with the DNS servers,

You can try using the following (google DNS servers)

2001:4860:4860::8888
2001:4860:4860::8844
