Netgear router connected to 8800NL

Post by Power4ce »

Hi there,

I have an 8800NL. Would it be possible to connect a NETGEAR (R6260) router to the modem side of the 8800NL?

If I've correctly understood what I've read, I'd need to put the 8800NL into bridging mode and connect the modem socket of the Netgear router into the EWAN port of the 8800NL. Is this correct? Would I need to change any more settings on either the 8800NL or the Netgear?

I'm currently using a BT connection via PPPoE.

Thanks.

That's right

1. Setup the 8800NL into bridging mode (either ATM = ASDL or PTM = VDSL)
2. Setup the netgear's WAN port for a PPPoE connection with your BT broadband username and password entered
3. Once done, plug a Ethernet connection from the 8800NL to the netgears WAN port (you can use the EWAN port on the Billion as it is a gigabit port for the connection between the two)

Attached is guide on how to setup the device in Bridging mode
