In spellbound's first post, it states that he/she was advised to adjust the SNRM to achieve the 8meg speed, that is why I mentioned it.

As the speed was dropping, I didn't think that adjusting the SNRM to increase the bandwidth in the circumstances, was good advice as that would have meant reducing the SNRM even lower.

Given that at times max speed is achievable, I think that would tend to point to a line fault unless there are local interference issues that we aren't aware of and whether changing channels in this instance would be beneficial.

I'm not sure from spellbound's speed tests if the router is sync'ing at max bandwidth but producing a low throughput or if the bandwidth is fluctuating between the two.

I had a similar problem earlier in the year where I was only getting a throughput of between 20-30% of the bandwidth and the fault was finally traced to bad clamps in the cabinet.

Note that it was Billion support that advised the SRNM change , not the ISP!
