Seems like a massive security hole having your creds being sent over http:// un-encrpyted.
Ideally you could add your own certs too, see the interface on FreeNas

Billion appears to use openSSL in their 7800gz routers. I'm surprised they can't code something up to create a certificate and add HTTPS management access to the device.
