So the engineer is coming from Sky to install sky fibre on Thursday.

I plan to leave the sky router in place for 10 days and allow the line to settle before swapping it out for the billion 7800n (with this firmware).

Good plan?

What are the gotcahs / tips - how do I extract my user name and password fromt he sky equipment - is there a guide somewhere to setting this up ?

Actually I'd rather just get on with it - any problem in just connecting the billion router to sky fibre maybe after a day or two ?

Grateful for any advice before Thursday - am very much looking forward to 40Mbps down and 10Mbps up!

Visit http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/ for everything you need to know about anything to do with Sky.

I wouldn't bother waiting to use your Billion router as with fibre, DLM is running continously. There is no 10 day period. That is for ADSL, not fibre.
Also, with fibre, the way sky do it, the sync is between your modem and the cabinet. The router has no effct. You can power down your router and it will have no effect at all as long as your modem is still powered up and connected.

Thanks for your help - I used wireshark to extract the username and password from the sky hub.
Reflashed my billion with 1.06g.dc1 as linked in this thread (I kept the config).
Entered a few settings.
Guess what.
It all worked - thanks v much.
